A marble Sakyamuni statue is a depiction of the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, made out of marble stone. Sakyamuni is a Sanskrit term meaning "Sage of the Sakyas," which is a reference to the clan that Siddhartha Gautama belonged to.

The statue is typically depicted seated in the lotus position, with his legs crossed and his hands resting on his lap, palms facing upwards. This posture is known as the "earth-touching" mudra, which represents the moment when the Buddha touched the earth as a witness to his enlightenment.

Marble is a popular material for making Sakyamuni statues because it is durable, long-lasting, and has a smooth and polished surface that can be intricately carved with fine details. Marble also has a white or off-white color that symbolizes purity and enlightenment in Buddhist culture.

Sakyamuni taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path as the means to overcome suffering and attain enlightenment. He attracted a large following and spent the rest of his life teaching and spreading his message throughout ancient India. He passed away at the age of 80 in Kushinagar, India.
