Winged Victory of Samothrace

Known as one of the "Three Treasures of the Louvre Town Pavilion", "The Goddess of Samoreus" is placed on the magnificent Daru staircase of the Demon Pavilion. The strong wings stretched to the side, and the wings were flying in the sea breeze, full of victory and the passion of triumph.
But she was not unearthed. Instead for a long time, there are no wings, and the gray face and other sculptures are stacked, which is not noticeable. Few people know that behind it, there is a 20 -year archeological and repair story hidden.
This sculpture is called "The Goddess of Samomelus", which was unintentionally excavated by French archeologist Shangpazoiseau in Samothrace, Greece.

The sculpture was severely damaged and crushed to nearly 200 marble remnants, which was uniformly packed and returned to France by Shang Pasuo.
Given by the powerful cultural relics of the Louvre, after assembled the residual films, they found that it was a "statue of victory" more than 2 meters high. But unfortunately, the head and arms are missing. Although the wings are residual, the damage is seriously not installed.
It took 12 years for the story to change: Austrian archaeologists discovered that gray marble fragments unearthed with the Goddess of Victory had been accidentally pieced together to turn out to be the prow of a battleship.
It was this bow that completely changed the fate of the Goddess of Victory. Because there is an ancient Greek coin pattern, is the goddess of victory standing on the bow of the wind, announcing the arrival of victory. So archaeologists concluded that the bow was the base of the Goddess of Victory!
When the French learned of this, they immediately sent Champazzo to Samothrace, where he again succeeded in getting the prow and plinth packed up and shipped back to the Louvre.
At this moment, the Louvre has also begun to realize that the "Goddess of Victory" will definitely become a priceless treasure. They began to repairs huge sums of money, first added the head of the bow to the "goddess", and then inserted her wings, but they never added their heads and arms.
This is where the Louvre is clever: something and do nothing. Wings must be added as the sign of the "Goddess of Victory", so that there is a dynamic dynamic of the wind. But the head and arm are not helpful to paint the snake.
After the "Victory Goddess" is repaired, the base and wings are counted, and the statue height exceeds 5 meters. There is no room at the bottom to accommodate. So in 1884, the sculpture was moved to the current Daru stairs.
The ladder is connected by a series of high -open arches, and the momentum is magnificent. The "Goddess of Victory" was placed in the center of the ladder and became an absolute visual focus.
