So how should a marble fireplace be cleaned on a daily basis?
Stone fireplaces are easier to clean if they are sealed with a permeable sealant containing tung oil. The sealant has moisture-proof properties and can form a hard protective layer on the stone surface.
Scrub the stone occasionally to remove dust or vacuum. Add the yellow laundry soap to the boiling water. Cool the mixture and add 1/2 pound pumice powder and 1/2 pound household ammonia. Mix well. This solution is used to remove soot. First of all, brush as much as possible to brush the soot, and then brush with a mixed solution on the stone, half an hour later with a hard brush and warm water cleaning. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Daily cleaning can be done with a cleaner or soap or, if necessary, a mild abrasive. Wash and dry. For SLATE floors, soak a soft cloth in a lemon oil polish, then wipe the stone with a rag to add beauty to the stone. Remove excess grease from the stone with a clean cloth. This gives the stone a uniform color. Do not use wax on the fireplace in use.
For grease on a stone grill, you can fix it by adding 1/2 cup of trisodium phosphate to 1 gallon of hot water. Wear rubber gloves and scrub the stone surface with a stiff brush. Rinse with warm water. If you can't remove the oil stain completely, repeat several times. If necessary, add a little more trisodium phosphate, such as 1 cup per gallon. Since this is a very irritating solution, avoid contact with skin, carpet or fabric.
